Beka Almen, M.A., LPC
I’m glad you’re here. Counseling is an investment in yourself, and you are worth that investment.
I believe therapy is a partnership between therapist and client, where together we determine goals, direction, methods, and pacing- while discovering new insights and ways of understanding you and your experiences. I use a blend of therapeutic approaches to meet your individual needs. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and the SSP (Safe and Sound Protocol). My work is informed by Internal Family Systems, Polyvagal Theory, and Somatic Experiencing. These methods all utilize the natural capacities of your brain and body to bring about healing and restore balance to your nervous system.
I work with teens and adults dealing with anxiety, depression, phobias, PTSD, complex PTSD, travel anxiety, life changes, and chronic pain. I especially enjoy working with parents of foster and adoptive children, helping them care for themselves as they do the good and hard work of raising a child with trauma. I love to learn and am always looking for better ways to help my clients.
I received my Masters of Arts in Counseling from B.H. Carroll Theological Institute. Outside of therapy, I enjoy hiking with my husband and dog, birdwatching, and building LEGO sets. I’m also learning to crochet.
